Conflict Mediation for Managers
Course Description:
Consider that most managers are not prepared or confident when conflict occurs. A recent survey of managers suggested that managing conflict (including grievances and disciplinary hearings) was the second most challenging task for managers and Human Resources staff after managing persistent bad performance.
Not all managers make good mediators, but mediation skills will help all managers get better. Many managers fear that if they get too involved in other people’s interpersonal conflict, they will become a magnet for future staff hostility. This could take the form of people banging on your door expecting you to resolve their conflicts for them, and blaming you if you cannot.
This full day course is designed to help managers understand how to avoid being affected by the angry, toxic behavior that results from conflicting colleagues, staff, and customers; model positive behavior and guide people beyond conflict to a better, more productive place.
